The third edition of the Prize dedicated to Music for Images sponsored by SIAE and NUOVO IMAIE
During the XXXIII edition of Romics, scheduled from 3 to 6 October 2024 at Fiera Roma, the third edition of MUSICOMICS - Premio Romics Musica per Immagini, the contest dedicated to artists and artists working in the field of film scores, TV and video games.
After the success of the first editions, Romics has embarked on a new and exciting path dedicated to music and its connections with animation, comics and multimedia. In its continuous commitment to enhance the exceptional Italian music production, Romics announces the third edition of MUSICOMICS - Premio Romics Musica per Immagini.
The Luigi Albertelli Career Award was awarded to Maestro Franco Micalizzi.
Conductor, one of the most important composers of soundtracks, worked intensively in genre cinema of the 70’s and 80’s, helping to innovate the music for detective films, Action movies and westerns. Among his most famous works are the iconic soundtrack of Lo chiamavano Trinità... from 1970 and also used by Quentin Tarantino in the film Django Unchained but also the soundtracks of many films starring Bud Spencer and Terence Hill (Born with the shirt or There’s no two without four) and by Thomas Miliam (The Hunchback Gang or Crime on the Highway). Micalizzi has also composed numerous famous animation songs, from Lupin III (the accordion) to Gordian or Trider G7.
The Andrea Lo Vecchio Prize is awarded to Maestro Lucio Macchiarella.
Singer-songwriter and lyricist, he is known for some of the most famous and classic cartoon songs. Son of Arte, he started writing songs at the age of 11. Active since the 70’s, he has collaborated with the Rocking Horse and the Superobots and has written iconic songs like Ken the Warrior, Forza Sugar!, Il Dr. Slump and Arale, Mimi and the Volleyball Girls, Sampei, Conan the boy of the future, Candy Candy and many others. Besides the acronyms, he has also worked for Scialpi, Edoardo Vianello, Ilona Staller, Daniel Sentacruz Ensemble, Nova Schola Cantorum (participating in the Sanremo Festival of 1986 with the song Azzurra Anima). His ability to create texts suitable for the audience of young people has made him a reference point in the sector, making it an essential reference point today.The Special Prize for Foreign Productions, in collaboration with the Compositori Musica per Film (ACMF) is awarded to Giorgio Moroder, composer, music producer and pioneer of electronic music, winner of three Oscars for his soundtracks and recently awarded the David di Donatello for his career. Moroder has worked on soundtracks of titles such as Midnight Escape, Flashdance, Scarface or Top Gun while in the field of fantastic cinema, a title above all: Neverending Story!
In collaboration with the Film & TV department of Sony Music Publishing (Italy)The Best Synchronization Award will also be awarded to audiovisual projects that highlight excellence in integrating and using music within films, TV series, or other audiovisual content.
The prize, with a specific focus on music for animation, video games, cinema and serials of genre television, is sponsored by the two main collecting companies for the management of authors' and artists' rights: SIAE - Italian Society of Authors and Publishers that will award the SIAE Prize for Best Soundtrack for an Italian Animation film and NEW IMAIE, New Institute Mutualistico Performers that will award the NUOVO IMAIE Prize to the Best Musical Interpretation for the Audiovisual.
Among the jury members, composed of professionals, experts and operators in the field who will decide the winning works of the competition by awarding further prizes: Mariella Nava, famous for successful songs like Per amore, Così è la vita e Terra mia, and for writing songs for artists such as Andrea Bocelli and Lucio Dalla; Douglas Meakin, British musician, known for his work in the field of Italian and international rock music and beat but also for the anime songs like Sampei, Candy Candy, and Mazinga; Claudio Simonetti, composer and musician, author of horror film soundtracks, many also made in collaboration with director Dario Argento, including Profondo Rosso and Suspiria; Carlo Massarini, journalist and television presenter active since the 70’s, He is known for his passionate dissemination of cultural and technological evolutions, TV disseminator of rock music and new technologies with programs such as Mister Fantasy and Mediamente. Honorary President of the Jury is Maestro Vince Tempera, composer, conductor, keyboard player and arranger; the MUSICOMICS Award sees the Creative Direction of Mirko Fabbreschi, composer, musician, voice actor and singer, television author, teacher and writer, also known to the public for being an author and interpreter of soundtracks and TV songs.
The Musicomics project, sponsored by SIAE and NUOVO IMAIE, boasts the collaboration of the following Media Partners: ACMF - Associazione Compositori Musiche da Film, All Music Italia, Animeclick, Dj Osso Radio, Radio Elettrica, Soundtrack City, Soundtracks.net, Radio Animati, Radio Cusano Campus and Sony Music Publishing (Italy).
To conduct the Award Ceremony scheduled for Saturday, October 5, 2024 at the Pad. 8 - Sala Grandi Eventi e Proiezioni will be an exceptional presenter: Andrea Agresti, actor, comedian, songwriter and historian of the Hyenas.
