Screenwriter and illustrator. In 1996, she collaborated with the Walt Disney Company. Between 1997 and 2000, she created numerous stories, illustrated all the covers of the magazine *La Petite Sirène*, and contributed to various original projects as a character designer; in 1997, together with Elisabetta Gnone and Alessandro Barbucci, she conceived the “W.I.T.C.H.” universe (settings, characters, graphic style, and colors), a project that gave rise to two internationally successful animated series and was also adapted into a comic book series, becoming the fourth most widely circulated magazine in the world.

Since 2000, she has devoted herself to comics, creating—together with Alessandro Barbucci—the universe of the hit science fiction series *Sky Doll* for Edizioni Soleil, a series published throughout Europe, in China, Japan, Korea, and the United States, first by Marvel Comics and then by Titan Comics. In 2003, Barbara Canepa developed, together with Katja Centomo, Francesco Artibani, and Alessandro Barbucci, the children’s series *Monster Allergy*, published by Edizioni Soleil and translated into more than ten foreign languages. Thanks to this success, the series was adapted into an animated series produced by DISNEY CHANNEL for Europe and by WARNER BROS. for the United States, as well as into a musical performed in Italy’s most prestigious theaters.

In 2008, she became a series editor at Edizioni Soleil and, together with Clotilde Vu, created *Métamorphose* and *Venusdea*. She won the Gran Gunici award for best illustrator at the Lucca Comics Awards in 2002. In 2022, Barbara Canepa ended her collaboration with Edizioni Soleil to found, together with Mourad Boudjellal, Clotilde Vu and Jean-Luc Istin, a new publishing house, Éditions Oxymore, within the Madrigall Group, which also includes Éditions Gallimard, where she works as an author and series editor. Her most recent projects include the GreenWood series, published by Tunué, and the new Magica series, conceived together with Katja Centomo and born out of an international collaboration between Italy and France involving Tunué and Éditions Oxymore.
