Daniele Baglioni (Rome, 1977) is professor of Italian dialect and History of the Italian language at the Ca' Foscari University in Venice, where he is director of the Department of Humanities. In his research he is interested in the historical grammar and etymology of Italian and dialects (in particular Romanesco and Venetian); spread of Italian outside Italy between the Middle Ages and the modern age; of invented languages and the relationship between texts and images in Italian literature. Member of the Istituto Veneto di Scienze Lettere Arti, collaborates with the Italian Etymological Lexicon and with the Foundation "I Lincei per la Scuola."
