"La Storia di Mary” at Romics: the comic that tells the importance of plasma donation

Romics will present Mary's Story, a comic book created to raise awareness about the importance of plasma donation and the treatment options that come with it. The project is promoted by Avis Comunale Roma (Association of Italian Blood Volunteers) and Roma Capitale, in collaboration with the Scuola Romana dei Fumetti.

Through the language of comics, La Storia di Mary it tells an insight into the daily life of those who, in order to live a life like everyone else, need the immunoglobulins produced by plasma processing. A still little-known theme that the project intends to bring to the public's attention to inform and engage more and more people about the importance of donation.

The meeting will present the comic and illustrate the path that led to its creation. The volume will also be distributed free of charge during the demonstration, with the aim of spreading awareness of this topic and promoting a culture of solidarity.

The presentation will be led by Stefano Santarelli of the Scuola Romana dei Fumetti and will feature project curators Lorenzo Marinone, President of the Roma Capitale Budget Committee, and Roberta Maida, Head of Youth at Avis Comunale Roma. Also speaking will be Mariangela Zenobi, the popularizer who inspired the story, and the comic book authors Valerio Forconi, the artist, and Alessandro Ruggieri, the screenwriter.

Un incontro che unisce fumetto, divulgazione e impegno sociale, dimostrando come il linguaggio delle storie disegnate possa diventare uno strumento efficace per raccontare temi importanti e sensibilizzare il pubblico.
