Production Design: telling the ‘crime story’
In detective fiction, spaces also tell stories: they suggest clues, construct tensions, define eras and atmospheres. Noemi Marchica, an Italian set designer with two David di Donatello nominations, brings her experience in Production Design between cinema and series to Romics 37.
His journey spans different genres and eras: from his long experience with Inspector Coliandro to the contemporary atmospheres of SKAM Italia and Prisma, up to the retro and comic-book universe of the Diabolik trilogy. He has collaborated with, among others, the Manetti Bros., Daniele Vicari, Manfredi Lucibello, Tiziano Russo, Luna Gualano and Leonardo Di Costanzo.
For the cinema he has worked on titles such as Love and Crime, US Palmese, Ammazzare stanca, Non riattaccare, Tutte le mie notti and La guerra del Tiburtino III, alongside his work in cinema and series also projects in the world of music and music videos.
At Romics 37, Noemi Marchica will recount the role of scenography in the narrative of detective fiction, from research to the definition of environments, showing how the construction of space can contribute to the telling of characters, eras, and tensions. From contemporary Italy to Diabolik's 1960s, Production Design becomes an integral part of history and its imagination.
