Roberto Genovesi is an Italian writer and journalist. He is the director of Rai Kids, Rai's Gender Directorate dedicated to children, young people and adolescents. He was the director of Rai Libri and the artistic director of Cartoons on the Bay, Rai's international cross-media animation festival.

A professional journalist since 1987, he worked for over fifteen years for the ASCA news agency where he held the positions of head of economics, social affairs and multimedia. He was head of the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Trade, advisor to the Presidency of the Council and the Ministry of Communications for all policies and legislative initiatives on children. He was a member of the Media and Minors Commission, and collaborated with various periodicals and newspapers, including L'Espresso, Panorama, La Repubblica and TV Sorrisi e Canzoni. Among his novels, also published in Great Britain, Spain and Portugal, are the trilogy The Cursed Legion and the saga of the Hidden Legion. He has created numerous graphic novels in collaboration with Sergio Toppi, including the comic biographies of Frederick of Swabia, Charlemagne, Archimedes of Syracuse and Genghis Khan. He created the role-playing game Nathan Never for Stratelibri and the video game of the same Bonelli character for Genias. For Rai he created the channels Rai Gulp and Rai Yoyo with Gianfranco Noferi.

He teaches Theory and Technique of Cross-Media Languages at several Italian universities. He was the first professor of Video Games in the history of the Italian university. He was director for two editions of Expocartoon, the International Comics Fair in Rome. He won the Lucini Prize for journalism and twice the Premio Italia for non-fiction. With his novel The Boy Who Liberated Auschwitz (Newton Compton) he was a finalist for the 2023 Acqui Storia Prize.
