Stealing the souls of anti-heroes, false heroes and fearsome ‘villains’. A conversation with the artists Leandro Fernandez, Otto Schmidt and R.M. Guera

There is a villain in all of us, and we all have our favourite villain. Even the greatest comic book artists and writers are called upon, throughout their careers, to interpret the unconscious wounds, traumas and social ills that make the most beloved villains of American comics so compelling.

Discussing this topic are the Argentine comic artist Leandro Fernandez and the Russian Otto Schmidt – both among the leading talents at DC Comics and Marvel – alongside the Serbian comic artist R. M. Guera, at a talk linked to the exhibition ‘Villain. The Roots of Evil’, organised in collaboration with CArt Gallery and TomatoFarm Agency and moderated by journalist Riccardo Corbò.
