Gabriele Mainetti 

Gabriele Mainetti, born in Rome on 7 November 1976, is an Italian film director, actor, composer and producer. After making the short films "Basette" and "Tiger Boy" - the latter selected in the shortlist of live action shorts at the 86th Academy Awards - in 2015 he directed and produced with his Goon Films "Lo chiamavano Jeeg Robot". The film is a great success, winning 7 David by Donatello, 2 Silver Ribbons, 4 Golden Shots and the Golden Globe, among many other awards. 

In 2018 he produces and directs his second feature, "Freaks Out", co-produced by Goon Films together with Lucky Red, GAPbusters and in collaboration with Rai Cinema. The film gets 16 nominations to the David di Donatello 2022, winning 6 statuettes, and wins 3 Silver Ribbons in the same year. 
In 2025 he directed his third film, "La città proibita", a production by Wildside, a company of the Fremantle Group, Piper Film and Goon Films.
In parallel to his career as a director, Mainetti continues the production business with his Goon Films, making several short and feature films. He has also written the screenplay and composed the music for all his feature films, collaborating with important Italian writers and composers.
