Riccardo Mannelli
Born in Pistoia (1955) lives in Rome since 1977; from '75 he collaborates with the publishing; since 1980 he realizes reprints drawn around the world. Protagonist of major national and international satirical newspapers (L'Echo des Savanes, Humour. Cuore, Satyricon, etc.) some of which he directs, or participates in the foundation (Il Male, Boxer, Il Cuore). Today he works for La Repubblica and Il Fatto Quotidiano and with other publications. He publishes several books of satires and reports, among which "Kilometers of Chili" "Nicaragua" "Except me and my monkey" "Choice Meats" "Fine penna mai".
In parallel he carries out a personal pictorial research, documented in many exhibitions and catalogues: the pictorial cycle of sixty works Commedia in Z.E.R.O. ( catalogue ); the virtual frieze projected on the Ara Pacis Apoteosi dei corrotti, from which the eponymous book was born; with Jan Saudek Tender Barbari (catalogue). In 2011 he is invited to the 54th Venice Biennale, in the Italian Pavilion (catalogue). Also in 2011 he exhibited the entire cycle "commedia IN Z.E.R.O." at the Festival of Spoleto (catalogue). In 2012 he published the art book "A." for Tricromia and held his personal exhibition "Appunti per la ricostruzione della bellezza" at the Galleria Gagliardi di S. Gimignano. In 2015 he held a bi-personale at the Philobiblon Gallery "ROPS + MANNELLI"( catalogue); the same exhibition is moved from March to June at the Palazzo Ducale in Urbino, curated by Vittorio Sgarbi. In January and February 2016 he holds a solo show at the Building Bridges Art Exchange in Los Angeles ( catalogue). In September 2016 he held a new solo show at the Gagliardi Gallery entitled "Vera Bellezza" (catalogue). Of 2019 is the great retrospective to MUST ( Historical Museum of the city of Lecce- catalog). It teaches at the I.E.D. where coordinates the design from the real.
