Richard Blake
He holds a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design, with a year of practical study in Rome, Italy, and an MFA from Cornell University. After several group exhibitions and a solo show in 2005, he moved to New York City and started working as a storyboard artist for various film and commercial companies.
In 2019 he started writing and designing the graphic novel Exagon Bridge (Image, 2023), published in Italy by BD Editions. The book explores many of the central themes of Blake’s work: parallel dimensions, cartography, sentient I.A. , changing architectures and travellers moving through strange and elusive landscapes.
Inspired by writers like Jorge Luis Borges and Italo Calvino, Blake uses a variety of media to expand his narrative ideas, including watercolor, acrylic, graphite and digital drawing.
Currently lives and works in New York.
