Vanna Vinci, Golden Romics of the XXXII edition

The artist awarded the Gold Romics: from the Philosophical Child to Frida Kahlo, from Maria Callas to her latest work Night Journey

Vanna Vinci, author of the rebellious Girl Philosophical, will be celebrated with the assignment of the Gold Romics during the XXXII edition of the Festival, scheduled from 4 to 7 April 2024 at Fiera Roma.

Vanna Vinci, after the years of training, initially works in the advertising graphics sector and then discover her love for comics and dedicate herself to her passion from the late eighties onwards. He publishes his first real story, The Other Side, on Nova Express, which is followed by the volume. After the experience of Granata Press, by Luigi Bernardi and Roberto Ghiddi, she continued her journey as an author with Kappa Edizioni, publishing stories in episodes in the seminal magazine Mondo Naif and then in monographic volumes. The comics novels have been joined by the production of strips and cartoons of the sulfurous Girl Philosophical, a kind of sardonic alter ego output muted first on Mondo Naif, then on Linus and finally in lucky monographic volumes. There followed publications and collaborations with Rizzoli Lizard, Bao Publishing, Feltrinelli Comics and 24 Hours Culture with which he published the biography Frida, comic amoral operetta, true best seller reprinted several times in Italy and abroad.

After creating stories with a daily and intimate theme, with incursions into the fantastic, in the tale of ghosts and other aspects of the supernatural, he inaugurated a series of comic book biographies (the first issue in 2013 for Dargaud) analyzing the figure and the female question: La Casati, Tamara de Lempicka, Frida Kahlo, Maria Callas and the seven great libertines of Paris dThe Belle Epoque of Parle-moi d'amour; works of great success translated in France, Germany, United Kingdom, Spain, Korea, Poland. She has collaborated with several children’s publishers and as an author has published some books for Mondadori Ragazzi, including the Jurassic Child. He is currently working on a miniseries entitled Viaggio notturno, for Sergio Bonelli Editore, whose first volume, La casa, was released in November 2023.

During the XXXII edition of Romics, Vanna Vinci will be the protagonist of a special meeting that will retrace the fundamental stages of her artistic career.
