Vito Tommaso is a composer, arranger, conductor and artistic producer. Among the founders of the "Circolo del Jazz" of Lucca, he gave life, with Antonello Vannucchi, Giovanni Tommaso, G. Piero Giusti and Gaetano Mariani, to the famous “Quintetto di Lucca” (later Quartet), which in the years ’50- ’60 contributed decisively to the spread of Italian jazz. He participated in the Sanremo International Jazz Festival (1957) and won the radio Jazz Cup curated by Adriano Mazzoletti.
In those years he combined pop music with the ensemble “I Cinque di Lucca” (then “I Quattro di Lucca”), performing in the symbolic venues of Versilia such as “La Bussola “ by Sergio Bernardini and “La Capannina by Franceschi”. Since the mid-1960s he has established himself as an arranger, director and producer for artists such as ’the Showmen“(Cantagiro winners), Mal ("Bambolina", "Betty Blue", "Pensiero d'amore"), Rita Pavone, Mia Martini, Franco Franchi, Pippo Franco, Renato Rascel, Lino Banfi, Luigi Proietti and José Feliciano, also collaborating with Nina Simone.

In the theater he wrote music for shows by Garinei and Giovannini such as “Alleluja brava gente”, “Cielo mio husband” (with Rascel, Proietti, Melato, Bramieri, Satta Flores, Colli), also working with Leo Gullotta, Rosa Fumetto and Mariagrazia Buccella. On television he has edited music for RAI programs such as “Compagnia stabile”, “The stories of Father Brown”, “Saturday evening from nine to ten”, “Giallo”,”If Paris had the sea”, “Grand Duchess and waiters”, “Tonight Lino”, and for Mediaset “Bene Bravi Bis" and “Buona Domenica”.
Author of the theme song “Love Boat – Scent of the Sea “ for Little Tony, he has signed numerous iconic cartoon theme songs such as “Ken Falco”, “Peline Story”, “Jet Robot”, “George of the Jungle”. For the cinema he composed the soundtrack for “The Girl with the Gun” by Mario Monicelli with Peppino De Luca. He is the author of the teaching manual “Scales and preparatory and collateral exercises for piano” and is currently engaged in the study of new musical modes.
