Vanna Vinci’s Night Trip

The artist is celebrated with the award of the Gold Romics in the XXXII edition of the Festival.
With this exhibition we go to the discovery of the most recent work by Vanna Vinci, Night Journey, published by Sergio Bonelli Editore and currently underway.  After many years, the author returns to the themes and atmospheres of her beginnings, at the end of a journey, night in the most complete sense, that brings on the page a story with disturbing and fascinating implications.
Viaggio notturno consists of four parts, on display extracts from the first and second volumes, the latter coming out just these days. Then we go through some of the most evocative, involving and at the same time disturbing tables of the first volume La casa and the second, La bambina. Mystery, seduction, flashes of anguish on which seems to win curiosity, the desire to go beyond the boundaries of the possible, immersing themselves more and more deeply and at the same time in the mysteries that hides Bologna, the city where the story is set.
And in fact the protagonists of Night Trip are of course Jana, the girl who inherits an apartment in Bologna, enigmatic place from which history comes to life,  and the city itself, which reveals in these pages its secrets and its most intriguing inhabitants.
As Vanna Vinci herself says "Jana is a Sardinian name that means witch, but also fairy. The do mus de janas are prehistoric tombs carved into the rock, which according to old legends were the houses of the fairies". And then on Bologna: "I decided to set Viaggio notturno a Bologna for many reasons, some narrative and visual, some sentimental.... As in all cities there are closed environments and groups with which it is difficult, if not impossible, to get in touch 

The same goes for its architecture: there are open streets, squares and patios, frequented and enjoyable, even in winter, seen the pre without many porches. But there are wonderful places, secret gardens and courtyards, palaces full of frescoes and other wonders that it is impossible to see, because they are private... This secret component, within a city so open and full of people, highlights its fundamental mental characteristic, which is the Double." The immersion is total in the amazing atmosphere created by Vanna Vinci, between vampires, alleys and arcades, with an extraordinary use of color.
